FIDE: Series of sessions on “Smart regulation”

We attended the session on “Regulatory Effectiveness and Cost of Supervision in Digital Environments: An Integral Challenge”, organised by FIDE as part of its “Smart regulation” series

The session of this series focused on the challenge of achieving truly effective regulations in the digital context. In particular, the following issues were addressed: the important regulatory production that the Digital Agenda has brought about in recent years; the high level of technological innovation inherent to these environments, and the ensuing risk of regulatory obsolescence; and the obligations of supervision and control of compliance typical of the regulatory intensity that characterises this type of regulation, and the cost and effectiveness of which are often high.
