“The Growing Importance of Spanish in the International Legal Sphere: Spanish in Arbitration”
We have participated at the Session organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union, and Cooperation
Aware that the legal sector—and, more specifically, international organizations related to international law and institutions dedicated to the international extrajudicial resolution of legal disputes—constitute strategic areas for promoting the internationalization of the Spanish language and its economic significance in the global sphere, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union, and Cooperation (MAEUEC) is supporting, among other actions, several initiatives aimed at promoting the use of Spanish in international organizations such as the International Court of Justice (ICJ), the Permanent Court of Arbitration (PCA), the Hague Conference on Private International Law (HCCH), and the International Institute for the Unification of Private Law (UNIDROIT).
Within this framework of action by the MAEUEC, the reflection session “The Growing Importance of Spanish in the International Legal Sphere: Spanish in Arbitration” was held. On this occasion, the Manifesto on the Use of Spanish was presented—an initiative jointly promoted by the International Court of Arbitration of Madrid (CIAM), the Ibero-American Arbitration Center (CIAR), and the Spanish-Ibero-American Arbitration Club (CEIA).
