Round table on “The sell-on clauses in international transfer contracts of football players”

On 9 April 2024, Vicente Boquera, lawyer at PZCR Legal, participated as a speaker at the conference “Current Issues in Sports Law”, organised by the Department of Labour Law and Social Security of the University of Valencia (programme here). His intervention took place within the framework of a round table focused on current legal issues in professional sport.

During the intervention, Vicente addressed the legal regime of sell-on clauses in international transfer contracts of football players, analysing their contractual configuration, the interpretative criteria of FIFA’s dispute resolution bodies and the case law of the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS). He also highlighted its relevance in the legal security of clubs and in the distribution of income generated in the transfer market.
