Current issues in EU competition litigation
PZCR Legal just completed another successful run of the Competition Litigation Seminar, taught over three weeks as part of the program of the EU Law Master of Universidad Carlos III of Madrid
Competition litigation is having a moment across the EU, with a special focus on follow damage actions involving digital giants and other sectors that shape national litigation systems. In addition, leading cases in the sport sector rely now on competition law grounds set by the courts and the European Commission at EU level.
Manuel Contreras, a partner in PZCR Legal, has just concluded another run of its three-week seminar entitled Current Issues in EU Competition Litigation. This Seminar is part of the program of the EU Law Master of Universidad Carlos III of Madrid. Postgraduate students read and discuss recently published judgements of the EU courts and the implications for national legal systems.
The Seminar, which has been run by Manuel since 2015, requires students to organize a final presentation on a recent EU judgement to discuss trade-off between competing legal values: public vs private enforcement of competition law, legal certainty vs right to compensation, leniency programs vs access to evidence. The program includes other competition law professionals so they can contribute to classroom discussions with practical advice and first-hand experience.
